We felt so welcome, every aspect of our stay was so enjoyable, and the little details like the handwritten tags on the homemade cookies, the milk bottle in the fridge, just made everything seem perfect!

Consistently excellent. Another wonderful Christmas break. Delicious menu for all days , staff are excellent. Very welcoming and relaxing. This lovely hotel is located in a pretty, traditional Cotswold town in Gloucestershire. There are short and long walks and plenty of other Cotswold towns within reasonable driving distance. Highly recommended.

Dog friendly hotel. Lovely hotel & staff were great, friendly & really good service. Lovely food, evening & breakfast. Good drinks selection. Nice location with a small car park & EV charging also. Small village with a nice pub near by.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner, bed and breakfast at The Painswick. Our room was very comfortable and the 7 course taster menu was simply superb. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a special treat.

Want to give the hotel and the restaurant 5 stars separately. The staff for both are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, the showers are awesome and the general areas and the local area are very pleasant. The restaurant is very nice and the food was terrific. Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel, it is worth going to the restaurant for some fine dining.

The Painswick is everything you could want from a hotel experience: relaxed and impeccable service, stunning surroundings, tasteful design, sumptuous beds, delicious food, art books or board games by the fire… We come back time and again for special occasions, and are never disappointed. The quality of the staff and attention to detail makes for an experience of being looked after that has become quite rare these days. On a recent visit, I had some dietary requirements, and was blown away by how accommodating the team were. It’s genuinely 5* in every category. Come for the experience. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

A rare jewel of a hotel! Exemplary and friendly service, nothing too much trouble! Delicious meals in the restaurant - and the chefs went out of their way to accommodate me being coeliac.
Our stay was wonderfully restorative. Painswick is beautiful and there were lovely walks to enjoy in the area.

One of my all-time favourite places in Gloucestershire! The Painswick is a Cotswold hotel that’s a cut above the rest.
I’ve stayed here, enjoyed dinner here, had meetings here and just met friends for coffee or drinks.
Their sourdough and virgin mojitos are to die for, and their cosy sofa in front of the log fire is my happy place

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Painswick hotel, in spite of the weather. We had a fabulous spacious room with great views and given a very warm welcome. Everything was perfect and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The central location made walking around the town easy and there was plenty of hotel parking space. Our evening meal was excellent with tasty and fresh vegetarian starters and mains. Highly recommended. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in one of the Palladian Rooms, which was lovely, with a great view over the valley, just a lot of stairs to get up there!!
Great service, everybody was very helpful and friendly.

Lovely setting and a warm and welcoming ambiance. Took advantage of the boots and coats to stride out in to the countryside. Enjoyed delicious food and attentive service. Gluten free well catered for.

What a wonderful 3 night break here. A beautiful, relaxing hotel in such a peaceful spot with lovely staff and delicious food. Our dog was made to feel very welcome too. We did your 5 and 10 mile suggested walks straight from the door which were both lovely. We would certainly love to return.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Sat out in the garden which was a lovely relaxing spot. All of the food we had was absolutely delicious. One of the best afternoon teas I have ever had. Stand out was the scotch egg and lemon cake. Lovely spot to go for a walk before hand.

My mum and I visited The Painswick Hotel this afternoon and we had a truly lovely time. We had afternoon tea in the garden which was delicious and plentiful. The sponge cake (coconut & raspberry) was one of the most delicious cakes I've eaten! China, our waitress, definitely deserves a special mention as she was attentive, courteous and went out of her way to help us move tables as my mum was a little too hot in the sunshine - thank you. It was very busy but China remained unflustered and kept a smile on her face which is no mean feat! The building, garden and views are wonderful and set in the stunning village of Painswick. Don't hesitate to visit, you won't be disappointed.

The Painswick is a beautiful hotel in the most charming setting. Our room was very comfortable and our dinner was out of this world! Breakfast was also very good and we took advantage of the passes to the Rocco Garden after a walk through the picturesque neighborhood. Can’t imagine a prettier view to wake up to or nicer staff to take care of us. Thank you.

Hands down one of the best accommodations I have ever experienced. The location is breathtaking and is the quintessential Cotswold view and experience. The staff is superb and delivers a high quality service to their guests. The Painswick hotel is the most well appointed and well thought out place I have ever stayed. They don’t miss anything- from home baked cookies and fresh milk in your room, to rain jackets for walks and fire places to keep the cold away, they have truly thought of everything and it makes for a once in a lifetime experience. Can’t recommend enough!

Just returned from a great stay at the Painswick. The evening meals were a particular highlight as was the location for some R&R and walking in the surrounding hills. We found all the staff to be very polite and helpful.
